It works nicely. The plate flexs laterally a litle bit. Next time I won't use less than 5mm thick aluminium sheet.

*I meant, the bike has a rearward axle path during the first 140mm of rear wheel travel.

I have acess to 2 free student licenses of Inventor, but I still prefer SW. I'd say Inventor is easier to learn though.

You've got a very valid point. But i don't know what to think anymore... I saw the german/austrian teams running on Formula Student in Silverstone this year. They're know for their senseless pursuit for lightweightness. A team was running 1200g carbon fiber 13" wheels, another one had a double wishbone suspension made from 8mm OD tubes, M6 rod ends and rocker arms truss style from 2mm thick 4130 plate. There was also TU Vienna, with their 180kg car running a regular carbon fiber body and spaceframe chassis, the space frame was made with carbon fiber tubes... They don't teach us that in school.

Is The Cleg still making brakes? I tried them once and they're still the most amazing brakes I've ever tried.

Yeah they always get the craziest events out even non bike related. I've been to a few, the one that impressed the most was definately the Red Bull Air Race, watching it live was out of this world.

F Yeah! I'm a mechanical engineering student, also been studying by myself race car suspension design. Love to design concepts in Solidworks.

According to his (engineer Luis Arraiz) new tech column on Dirt it all comes down to rearward axle path. He compared graphs from several bikes and the k9 gets like 140mm of rearward axle path. But yeah the Instant Center looks really high. K9 has been developing it for the last 2 years, with constant dyno testing of the CCDB, Bos Stoy and Vivid shocks at Oxford Brooks Uni (we raced against them this year at Formula Student Silverstone, let's not ask who did better at the comp...) and field test including lots of telemetry. This bike is causing a lot of fuse in the UK, it's a ugly bike with poor graphics, so it is all about how it will perform, not hype or trend. They promise to give full charts of tuneability tips acording to race conditions and the shocks come revalved for rider specs. At 2900£ for the frame with CCDB i won't imagine how much more would it be for an aluminium front triangle. I thought a steel front triangle would make you proud Mr. Mad "Oh, I make steel bike frames that look like freagging sculptures"MechanicSmile

It's the amount of shock that is compressed for wich inch of rear wheel travel. In car engineering it's called Instalation Ratio, in bike terms is the opposite of the leverage ratio applied on the shock. In leigh terms, because the curve ramps up means that the shock is easier to compress at the beggining and becomes increasingly harder to compress through shock travel to avoid bottoming.

Hey man good work, just a bit of constructive criticism: you might want to design a more triangulated rocker, the small link is creating unnecesary bending moments on yours. Also i'd redesign the ratio of the swingarm to allow you to have a shorter rocker, I mean, you have a fairly long one wich gives a more linear leverage ratio curve not very different from a single pivot wich kinda kills the purpose of having a linkage accivated system which gives a steeper LR curve, but that's just my vision it all depends on what you're shooting for. Just my 2 centsSmile

New fork, got rid of the Duro? I'm looking into buying the internals of a Suntour Duro D, if you know anyone with a snaped fork whiling to sell the internals let me know. I want to put the rebound cartridge on my marzzocchi Dirt Jam.
